One of the suspects arrested  with Yoshitha Rajapaksa on January 30,has been transferred to the Prison Hospital.

The suspect in question was admitted to the Prison Hospital for treatment for a persisting ailment resulting from injuries sustained in a road accident, prior to his arrest.

The Kaduwela Magistrate ordered on January 30 that five suspects including Yoshitha Rajapaksa, Nishantha Ranatunga and Rohan Weliwita, be taken into remand custody. The suspects were brought to the Welikada Remand Prison on Saturday night.

Meanwhile, a group including former President Mahinda Rajapaksa and MP Namal Rajapaksa, visited the detainees on Sunday afternoon.

Speaking to media, the Former President said that “it is okay if political vengeance is exacted from politicians without it being directed towards their children.” He added that he wouldn’t mind if they arrest and put him in a cell.

The former president further said that there is a doctor, who is a stakeholder and was told to mention Yoshitha’s name and they would release him, or they would imprison him if he refused.
