The Agrarian Services Department says that all small tanks will be renovated before the start of the Maha Season.
Engineer Prabath Vitharana, head of the department’s Water Management Unit, said that Rs.3300 million rupees had been allocated for this purpose.
The Agrarian Services Department says that damage was caused to over 300 small tanks due to heavy rains that fell during the last two years.
Engineer Prabath Vitharana said that priority will be given to the Kilinochchi, Mulaitivu and Vavuniya districts in the Northern Province, followed by renovation of tanks in the Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Puttalam, Kurunegala and Moneragala districts.
