Former first lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa was due to appear before the Presidential Commission of Inquiry to Investigate and Inquire into Serious Acts of Fraud, Corruption and Abuse of Power, State Resources and Privileges on Monday, January 25. However, the Former First Lady did not appear before the Commission today.
Shiranthi Rajapaksa was summoned to the Presidential Commission of Inquiry to record a statement over the incident where a house was allegedly granted to Milinda Rathnayake who is said to be a former media co-ordinator.
Through her lawyers the former first lady had requested the Commission to allow her to appear before them in two weeks. This was revealed to News1st by Secretary to the Commission Lacille de Silva.
