Sri Lanka sees increase in spread of dengue

There has been an increase in the spread of dengue across the country, according to the Ministry of Health.

Consultant Physician of the National Dengue Control Unit Community, Dr. Prashila Samaraweera, said that over the past 10 days of the new year, a total number of 837 dengue related cases have been reported. The highest number of cases have been recorded from Colombo, Jaffna, Kandy and Kegalle districts.

She added that a dengue eradication programme will commence from the North, East and the Central provinces on Monday, Jan. 11.
