Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif arrived in Sri Lanka on a three-day official visit last evening accepting an invitation extended by President Maithripala Sirisena.
Prime Minister Sharif was welcomed by his Sri Lankan counterpart Ranil Wickremesinghe at the Bandaranaike International Airport on Jan. 4. He is scheduled to hold official talks with Wickremesinghe and several cabinet ministers during his stay.
In addition, MoUs on a number of topics of bilateral importance — including health, science and technology, marketing, gems and jewellery, statistics, the prevention of money laundering and funding of terrorism, and cultural issues — will be signed between the two countries.
Police said that owing to the official state visit of the Pakistani prime minister, there will be restrictions to vehicular flow along select roads in Colombo.
