The Ministry of Foregin Affairs says that the Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif is due to arrive in the country, as part of an official visit today.
The Ministry also noted that the Pakistani premier will visit the country on an invitation extended by President Maithripala Sirisena and will remain in the country until January 6. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Kalsoom Nawaz Sharif will be received by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe at the Katunayake International Airport.
The Ministry of Foreign affairs said that the official welcome ceremony for the Pakistani Premier will be held under the auspices of President Maithripala Siresena at the Presidential Secretariat on Tuesday. Nawaz Sharif is due to hold discussions with President Maithripala Siresena, Prime-Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and other cabinet ministers, during his official tour to the country.
The Ministry of Foregin affairs said that the Pakistani Prime Minister is due to sign a number of bi-lateral agreements related to including health, science and technology, trade, statistics, gem and jewellery.
The Pakistani Prime Minister is also due to tour the historic City of Kandy during his visit to the country.
