President Sirisena draws light to services rendered by leaders in ancient Polonnaruwa

President Maithripala Sirisena met with residents of  Polonnaruwa,  following the dawn of the new year.  The President arrived at the Pulathisi Budhdhi Manda in Polonnaruwa and wished the locals for the new year.

The head of state spoke of  leaders who rendered services in their respective eras and did good for the country. He added that in this era,  everyone’s responsibility should be to make this country one of the greatest countries in the world.

President Sirisena also stated during the past one year, even though some things that could be felt by the people did not take place, the government passed the 19th amendment to the constitution to strengthen the democracy, freedom and happiness of the people of this country.

President Maithripala Sirisena also read out a poem from a book presented by the former principal of Royal College, Colombo Tikiri Bandara.
