Speaking at an event in Hambantota today, Minister of Housing and Construction Sajith Premadasa commented on the proposed constitutional reforms.
He slammed the former regime as an “imperialist rule” and accused them of bribing MPs to pass the 18th amendment in order to increase their own hold on power.
Distinguishing this government’s agenda for constitutional reform as one designed to bring about change for “the needs and wants of the 20 million people of Sri Lanka” he said “this government of good governance isn’t bringing about a new constitution to protect its colleagues nor to protect its family generation.”
Concessionary housing loans of 50,000 rupees each were handed out by Minister Sajith Premadasa to 780 low income families in Hambantota today.
