The Joint Trade Union Alliance of the National Water Supply and Drainage Board said that maintenance activities countrywide were crippled as a result of the strike action commenced by the trade union.
Convener of the trade union alliance Upali Rathnayake said that about 200 water leakages are reported on a daily basis. He added that the government should intervene and provide solutions in response to their trade union action.

He said that despite the trade union, action water supply activities will continue to be carried out.
He added that the strike action was initiated even though the authorities had agreed to hold discussions with the trade union alliance.
