Minister Sajith Premadasa speaking  on the issue of Divi Neguma funds being allocated for air transport said that the Samurdhi scheme is a concession for the poor of this country, and “they changed this to Divi Neguma.”

The Minister was speaking at an event that was held in the Weligaththa area in Hambantota where he went on to state that in the recent past, Rs. 150 million  from the Divi Neguma Department fund, has been used, for the minister’s transportation within the country. The minister stated “this is the poor man’s money and this has been revealed by the Presidential Commission.”

He went on to raise the question:

“Are Samurdhi funds allocated so the Minister can spend 150 million on trips around the country?”

The minister added that this money has been stolen and they are saying now that the good governance government is harmful to the country. So when 150 million from the Divi Neguma fund is used to pay the Minister’s air transport bills, is that good for the country?
