Two persons have been killed during efforts to renovate a water pump fixed in a precipice of a house in Valvettithurai, Jaffna.

Police said that the two individuals had been killed while they were in the precipice. The individuals had climbed down into the precipice.

It is suspected that the deaths were caused by either by lightning strikes or inhalation of toxic fumes.

The deceased were  residents of Mindagaai.
