Min. Premadasa responds to pleas made to Gammedda;clean drinking water for over 3000 Gannoruwa families

Minister Sajith Premadasa opened a drinking water scheme in Gonnoruwa, Hambantota on Monday, November 23.

It is expected that the new water scheme will fulfill the drinking water needs of 3,000 families in eight Grama Niladhari divisions in the Hambantota Administrative Division.

Minister of Housing and Construction, Sajith Premadasa stated that he recalls how a resident had arrived at the Sirasa Gamedda programme with a bottle of water saying that this is the water they have to drink.

He went on to note that more than 300 families from eight divisions namely Elalla, Katenna, Gonnoruwa, Thammannawa, Badagiriya, Joolgamuwa East, Yahangala West clamour for clean drinking water through the Gamedda programme.

He added that, in response to the request made by him, the government has allocated a sum of rupees two hundred and fourteen million nine hundred thousand to quench the thirst of these citizens in distress.
