The Presidential Commission of Inquiry in to Serious Acts of Fraud and Corruption had recommended that a case be filed against former deputy minister of fisheries Sarath Kumara Gunaratne. This move is to be taken over the alleged misuse of public funds.
The former deputy minister, the former chairman of the Fisheries Corporation and two other officials were investigated over misusing Rs.13.2 million in public funds.
They were charged with using funds from the Negombo Lagoon Project, for presidential election campaigning.
The Presidential Commission of Inquiry into Serious Acts of Fraud and Corruption had informed the Attorney General and the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption to file legal action against all four persons who were investigated.
