Employees of the Postal Department are conducting a country-wide trade union action, by going on sick leave, citing fourteen demands.
The Joint Federation of Postal Services Union says the trade union action which commenced at midnight on Thursday, will continue for 24 hours.
The Postal Department says that they will strive to continue postal services even though the trade union action is taking place.
Post Master General Rohana Abeyratne said that steps will be taken to resolve a number of issues such as recruitment to the department.
