The Frontline Socialists Party filed a complaint with the Police Headquarters on Wednesday.

On  April 7, 2012, reports emerged that Kumar Gunaratnam, a front runner of the Frontline Socialist Party, had gone missing. A few days later, the police said that Premakumar Gunaratnam had arrived at the Criminal Investigations Division and that measures were taken to send him to Australia as his visa had expired.

Thereby, in their complaint, the group including Politburo Member of the Frontline Socialist Party Duminda Nagamuwa requested for a broad investigation to be conducted into this matter.

Politburo Member of the Frontline Socialist Party,Duminda Nagamuwa said:

Former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa had stated that comrade Kumar Gunaratnam was arrested in the Kiribathgoda area. On a previous occasion he had said that there was no reason to arrest him and that he had surrendered himself over to the Dematagoda Police.

He went on to state:

Those behind this abduction have come forward to the media and admitted that they carried out the abduction, so we demand the Inspector General of Police to re-open the cases which have been swept under the carpet.

He further stated:

There were several disappearances, there was a white van culture. So, through the statement made by the Defence Secretary, the root causes to these incidents, as well as those responsible could be located .
