Presidential Commission summons former minister Jagath Pushpakamara

Former Minister of Coconut Development Jagath Pushpakumara arrived at the Presidential Commission of Inquiry to Investigate and Inquire into Serious Acts of Fraud, Corruption and Abuse of Power, State Resources and Privileges.

Secretary to the Commission, Lacille De Silva said that the the former minister was summoned before the Commission to record a statement on corruption and irregularities that allegedly took place at the Coconut Development Board.

Former Minister of Coconut Development, Jagath Pushpakumara  stated that he distributed saplings free of charge across the country and provided transportation as much as possible. When petitions are filed their officials examine it, so he provided a statement.

He went on to note that with regard to the plot of land, he had not taken any land free of charge.

He added that the land said to be acquired in Welikanda under his wife’s name is “a baseless lie” and asked that inquiries be launched into these allegations.

Meanwhile, former navy commander Admiral Jayanath Colombage also arrived at the Presidential Commission of Inquiry into Large Scale Fraud and Corruption.

Secretary to the Commission Lacille De Silva stated that the former navy Commander had been summoned before the commission to record a statement on irregularities at  Rakna Lanka.
