Sri Lanka managed to put up 250 runs for the loss of two wickets at the end of first day of the first test against the West Indies.

The home team managed to get off to a steady start with an opening partnership of 56 runs between Kaushal Silva and F.D.M Karunaratne.

Sri Lanka continued its impressive start with Dimuth Karunaratne posting 135 runs with Dinesh Chandimal chipping in with 72 runs at the close of play.

The two batsman managed to make a solid impact on the game making a third wicket stand of 149 runs.

West Indian bowlers struggled to make a decisive dent to the Sri Lankan batting line-up with K.A.J Roach and D. Bishoo picking up a wicket each for their side.
