Steps are being taken to remove the water that was stagnated in sections from Kokmaduwa and Imaduwa which was under the threat of landslides along the Southern Expressway.

Repair work commenced on Sunday, on the sections that were damaged along the Southern Expressway owing to landslides.

The section between Kokmaduwa and Immadhuwa along the Southern Expressway was constructed across a waterway. Residents of Kokmaduwa say that the waterway served as the source to fulfill the needs of the people, for fifty years, before the road was constructed.

Meanwhile, vehicular movement along the Section from Imaduwa and Kokmaduwa on the Southern Expressway was restricted to one lane and vehicles were allowed to travel in the speed of 40 kilometre per hour.
