A team of officers from the Criminal Investigation Department have been deployed to the Opathawaththa in Kotakethana, Kahawatta, the location where a 48-year-old mother of three was murdered on Monday.
Police say, in addition to the CID team, four police teams have also been deployed to carry out investigations into the incident. A senior police official in charge of the Kahawatta area said that security in the area has been beefed up.
Acting Police Media Spokesperson SSP Priyantha Jayakody stated that the woman was killed with the use of a sharp object while she was plucking tea. Thirteen women have been murdered in the Kotakethana area, Kahawaththa since 2011.
