The Avissawella- Colombo main road that was closed this morning owing to the bursting of a pipeline in the Bomiriya, Nawagamuwa area has now been opened.
According to the Office of the Police Media Spokesperson vehicular movement along the main road has regained normalcy. Meanwhile the National Water Supply and Drainage Board says that the pipeline that was damaged on Monday evening has now being re-constructed.
Vehicular movement on the Colombo – Avissawella Low Level Road in the Bomiriya area in Kaduwela came to a complete standstill Monday due to an eruption of a pipeline.
National Water Supply and Drainage Board General Manger Ranjith Balasuriya said the pipelines currently inuse are approximately 110 years old.
Headded that the pipeline has been restored now.
