Germany promises to help Sri Lanka to regain GSP+ concessions

Germany has promised to support Sri Lanka in regaining the GSP Plus consessions.

This was revealed when the visiting German Minister of Foreign Affairs called on President Maithripala Sirisena.
It is learnt that German Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr. Frank-Walter Steinmeier had said that, after he returns to Germany, he would work with the Sri Lankan Ministry of Foreign Affairs to function on regaining the GSP Plus for Sri Lanka.

The President had noted that measures are being taken to ensure the independence of the Judiciary through the establishment of reconciliation and democracy in the country. The President had also invited German investors to visit Sri Lanka during such an environment.

The German Foreign Minister had said that the German Government commended the efforts undertaken by Sri Lanka to ensure Democracy and reconciliation. An invitation was also extended to the President to visit Germany.

President Maithripala Sirisena will leave for the United States of America on Wednesday to address the 70th General Assembly of the United Nations.
