An alms-giving was organised on Sunday September 20, in view of the 68th commemoration of the most Venerable Palane Sri Vajira Gnana thera, under the auspices of President Maithripala Sirisena.
The alms-giving was held at the Vajirarama Temple in Bambalapitiya.
The Maha Sangha who attended the event, invoked blessings on the president and praised him for the measures taken by him to recognise the work of Sri Anagarika Dharmapala who rendered a yeoman service to the Buddha Sasana.
The president was also commended for implementing the vision of Anagarika Dharmapala as it is even suitable for today’s society.
Subsequent to the alms-giving, the president visited chief incumbent of the Sri Vajirarama Venerable Thrikunamalaye Ananda thera, and obtained blessings.
