Gin Ganga, Kalu Ganga waters are rising – Disaster Management Unit warns

According to the Disaster Management Unit, the water levels of the Nilwala, Kalu, and Gin rivers have risen further.

Assistant Director, Pradeep Kodippili advised those living on either side of the rivers, to be cautious of the rising water levels.

Meanwhile, several incidents of landslips have been reported from the Meda-kanda and Karavila Hill Grama Niladhari  Divisionwhich comes under the purview of the Katuwana Divisional Secretariat Division in the Hambantota district.

The DMC stated that the residents have been warned in this regard. Moreover, the Met Department predicts that several parts of country may experience thundershowers during the course of the day.

Meteorologist Sajith Wickramasooriya requests the general public to take adequate precautions to minimise damages caused by lightning activity.
