Authorities express concern as Hepatitis B grips the Moneragala District

Health authorities say that Hepatitis B is spreading rapidly across the Moneragala District. Authorities say that waste contaminating the water in the G-Lon Mountain Water Project is the reason for this situation to arise.

The MOH of Moneragala stated that water samples have been directed for tests to ascertain if waste had contaminated the water.

Fifty two (52) persons are receiving treatment for Hepatitis B at the Moneragala General Hospital. Medical Superintendent of the Hospital R.M.D.Rathaayke speaking News 1st stated that around 152 persons were provided with treatment for Hepatitis B during this year alone.
