The Hindu Website reports that the U.N. probe report on alleged human rights violations committed during the final phase of Sri Lankan military’s battle against the LTTE has been handed over to the Sri Lankan government.
The Hindu notes that this report, scheduled for public release during the 30th Session of the UN Human Rights Council which kicks off next Monday (14th) in Geneva, was received by the government.
The Hindu quotes a Foreign Ministry official as saying that the Sri Lankan Government will make its response in writing.
Meanwhile, the Foreign Minister, the Minister of Justice and the Governor of the Eastern Province Austin Fernando left the country on Friday night to attend the 30th Session of the UN Human Rights Council.
