The Department of Meteorology forecasts several spells of showers in the Western, Southern and Sabaragamuwa

Meanwhile, a traffic congestion was reported along the Matara – Tissamaharama main road in the Netolpitiya area in Tangalle due to a tree collapsing onto the road on early Monday morning damaging a three-wheeler. No injuries have been reported.

The Tangalle Police and residents have removed the tree from the road.

Furthermore, several power lines have been damaged after a tree collapsed onto the Ranna – Weeraketiya road.

According to the News 1st correspondent in the area, measures have been taken to restore the power-lines to several houses in the area which lost power as a result of the incident.

The shrine room and the elephant murals of the Nimbarama Viharaya were damaged when a tree collapsed opposite the Viharaya.

The News 1st correspondent in the area stated that no injuries were reported and that the Hambantota District Disaster Management Unit together with the Police have taken measures to remove the tree from the area.
