”Farmers today are in a very helpless situation. No government has done any good to farmers. We feel it would’ve been better to be born as a cow in a foreign country rather than this.”

Above was a confession of a farmer who speaks on behalf of the farmers in Giritale who have lost the harvest of 300 acres of farmland.

Five hundred (500) acres of farmland were cultivated under the Giritale project in the Giritale settlement. Two hundred acres have already been harvested.

However, the farmers are now facing a crisis due to the rains experienced before harvesting the remaining 300 acres. These farmers who used every bit of life in them for a drop of water when it was needed for their cultivation, are now watching their dreams being washed away before their very eyes.

Theys are now trying to dry whatever is left of their harvest on the main road.
