The resolution to extend the cabinet of parliament will be tabled in Parliament at the second Parliament session on Thursday, following its inaugural sitting on September 1.
Chief government Whip Gayantha Karunathilaka stated that a debate in this regard will be held on Thursday, September 3.
Speaking to News1st, Chief Government Whip Gayantha Karunathilaka stated that the vote will take place to determine whether a majority of parliament is in favour of increasing the cabinet of ministers.
He added that the 19th amendment to the constitution makes provisions to increase the number of cabinet ministers, in the event of a formation of a National Government, with the consent of the majority in Parliament.
