A committee has been appointed in order to formulate a new constitution under the National Government.
Preliminary talks have been held to gather the opinions of specialists, political scientists, experts on draft laws and university academics of a number of parties with regard to the constitutional affairs of the country.
When News1st contacted President’s Counsel Dr. Jayampathy Wickramaratne on the issue, he stated that the committee to establish the new draft of the constitution is to be appointed after parliament meets.
He added that an MOU has been signed by the SLFP and UNP also speaks of the constitution for the new national government.
