President tours Kinniya and Sampur – discusses issues, hands over deeds

President Maithripala Sirisena engaged in a tour to Kinniya and Sampur on Saturday August 22 in order to provide land deeds to those of the Eastern Province. Issues faced by the people of the area were brought to the attention of the President.

Speaking during the visits,  the President said that what happened on January 8 was truly a revolution.He added the what the public asked on that day was not for food or clothing but to live happily and in harmony.

The president also said that there will be a much better development plan than before . The President said that  he hopes to give special attention to the district and provincial levels and to create a regional development committee and grant powers to them.

President Maithripala Sirisena visited Sampur In Trincomalee this evening. The President first visited the Kali Amman Kovil and followed religious observances.

TNA’s R.Sampanthan was among those present. Subsequently the President visited those who have been temporary housed in Sampur and inquired in their grievances.

At the event land deeds were presented to 25 families to mark the occasion. Former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga, SLMC Leader Rauff Hakeem and many others were present for the event.
