Udaya Gammanpila was summoned to the Police Special Investigation Unit (SIU) on the morning of Thursday, August 20, in order to record a statement.

Speaking to the media, Gammanpila stated that allegations were made against him stating that he had brought down a bankrupt businessman from Australia, used the power-of-attorney privilege to sell his shares worth 100,000 dollars. He noted that following the complaint, the police have found out that the Australian businessman in question, Brian Chaddick, did not have any shares.

Gammanpila noted that, as there is no evidence that the Australian Businessman gave him the power of attorney, the complaint has been regarded as baseless and police will not proceed with the complaint against him.
