Police SUV on election duty falls off Diyatalawa precipice

A police SUV detailed for election duty, fell off a precipice in Diyatalawa on Sunday.

A police inspector, a sergeant and a constable were injured after their vehicle went over the precipice in Kadurugamyawa, Diyatalawa at about 11:30 on Sunday morning.

Police stated that the accident occurred while the police officers were engaged in election monitoring activities.They are currently receiving treatment at the Diyatalawa hospital.

Meanwhile, a civilian who attempted to impersonate an STF officer at the Weralagolla Primary School in Balana, Kadugannawa was taken into custody by the police.

The suspect was dressed in an STF uniform at the time of the arrest.

Meanwhile, a tense situation arose when an officer who was engaging in election duties complained that there was not enough transportation facilities, at the Election Centre in the Polgolla Science Faculty.

A Defender transporting 78,000 posters, banners and cutouts were seized by the police in Wellawaya on Sunday morning.
