The Elections Department states that every employer must give necessary leave or holidays to their employees, enabling them to cast their vote for the upcoming General Election.

The Additional Elections Commissioner M.M.Mohamed said that set of guidelines, recommended by the Human Rights Commission had also been published with regard to this matter.

He also stated that legal action would be taken against all employers who fail to give their employees leave . Meanwhile, the Elections Secretariat also says that complaints with regards to illegal election propaganda activities have risen rapidly. The Complaints Unit of the Elections Secretariat has received 217 complaints in this regard.

Moreover, the Elections Secretariat has received 205 complaints regarding illegal state promotions an appointments. Also, 195 complaints have been lodged in relation to granting benefits.

Furthermore, the Elections Secretariat has received 185 complaints in relation to the misuse of state vehicles and 152 complaints with regard to using state officials for political activities. The Elections Department has received 1407 election-related complaint thus far.
