Manchester City managed to claim a dominant victory over West Brom in their first match in the Barclays Premier League.

Veteran Yaya Toure’s shot was deflected off of teammate David Silva to put City ahead. Yaya Toure added to his tally when he curled one in to the top corner off an assist from Jesus Navas. Captain Vincent Kompany added to the score when he headed in a corner making clear of Man.City’s iintentions for this season.

The Barclays Premier League kicked off on August 8 with Manchester United scraping a win against Tottenham thanks to Kyle Walker’s early own goal and Chelsea seeing 2-2 draw against Swansea City and had Thibaut Courtois sent off the field.

The drama continued the next day on August 9 as Arsenal suffered a unexpected lost at the hands of West Ham when Keeper Petr Cech misjudged Dimitri Payet’s free-kick to allow Cheikhou Kouyate to head in a goal and was followed by Mauro Zarate who scored from 20 yards. Liverpool mananged to walk away with a late victory over Stoke when Philippe Coutinho’s scored a stunning long-range.
