Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe says said that many from the Matale District engage in farming activities, construct shops and build houses on state property subsequent to obtaining a permit or if they have a “Swarnabhoomi Deed”.

Speaking at a rally, he promised to those who have a valid permit or “Swarnabhoomi Deed” and have been waiting for 10 years, that he will pass the law within a year allowing them to have the right to get free hold of the land.

Meanwhile, UNP Hambantota District Candidate Min. Sajith Premadasa noted that former president Mahinda Rajapaksa is asking why Sajith Premadasa left Keselwaththe and came to the Hamabantota District.

The candidate stated: I left Colombo and came back to Hambantota because the Rajapaksas did not treat the people of Hambantota District properly. It has been 21 years and I have never left the Hambantota District neither will I ever leave it. I wish to tell you all that even if you throw resin at me you can never chase Sajith Premadasa away.

Leader of the Democratic Party Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka noted that the most corrupted individuals are those who are referred to as the “most powerful,” adding that they are philanderers, ethanol-dealers, child-molesters or extorters.

He also said that these are the type of people who are referred to as The Powerful in mainstream parties, adding that no one can and will be able to understand how they became billionaires and how they earned their wealth.
