The visiting Pakistan cricket team lead the series 2-1 as the third ODI ended badly for Sri Lanka, whose cricket team were pummeled by 135 runs at the R. Premadasa Stadium on Sunday, July 19.
The third one-day international against Pakistan was interrupted for about half an hour on Sunday after fighting broke out in the stands and objects were thrown onto the field at R. Premadasa Stadium.
Winning the toss and batting first, Pakistan’s captain Azhar Ali and Ahmed Shehzad posted an innings of 93. Shehzad scored 44 while Azhar Ali posted 49. Mohammad Hafeez who scored his 26th half century scored 54. However, the highest scorer for Pakistan was Sarfraz Ahmed (77).
Pakistan posted 316 for the loss of 4 wickets in their allotted overs. Sri Lanka chasing 317 to win, struggled at 158 for seven when play was suspended. Lahiru Thirimanne top scored for Sri Lanka (56) but was dismissed by Rahat Ali.
However, Sri Lanka were only able to score 181 losing all ten in 41.1 handing over the visitors the lead. Sarfraz Ahmed was adjudged the man of the match.
