Special meeting takes place at UPFA General Secretary Susil Premajayantha’s Udahamulla residence

A special meeting has taken place on Thursday night at the residence of UPFA General Secretary Susil Premajayantha in Udahamulla, Nugegoda. The meeting had concluded early Friday morning.

Although the media were denied the opportunity to cover the meeting, our cameras captured the arrival of UPFA leaders and others to the Udahamulla residence.

Former ministers Dilan Perera, Mahindananda Aluthgamage, Anura Priyadarshana Yapa, Basil Rajapaksa and Dinesh Gunwardena were among those seen attending this meeting. Journalists raised questions over this meet from UPFA seniors including Sunil Premajayantha this morning, when interviews for nominations under the SLFP ticket were taking place.

National Organiser of the SLFP, Susil Premajayantha noted that it was a private meeting………. When asked if the former defence secretary had attended the meeting, he said no. He added that the media is free to say what it wants but should not speak nonsense and that news will not be provided since there will be a press conference and press releases will be handed out.

Minister of Agriculture, Agrarian Development, Minor Irrigation, Industries and Environment for the Western Province, Gamini Tillakasiri stated that there is no need for anger and that in his political career he has never got angry and that anyone is welcome to ask him questions and when journalist do ask question a simple answer would be provided.

General Secretary of the SLFP, Anura Priyadharshana Yapa stated that there was no meeting and there were a few occasions on which everyone met but it was not political.

Minister of Fisheries,Mahinda Amaraweera added that there was no information of such a meeting. But the president called on a number of ministers at the presidential secretariat and it was extensively discussed regarding how the upcoming elections must be faced and what are the responsibilities vested in the former president Mahinda Rajapaksa.
