Sri Lanka takes the 114th position in the Global Peace Index for the year 2015. Sri Lanka was placed 105 last year and has been downgraded by nine positions this year.
The Global Peace Index is annually released by the Institute for Economics and Peace. The Institute is based in Sydney and New York and comprises of 162 countries
Iceland tops the list and is the most peaceful nation this time around as well, while Syria has been listed as the least peaceful country.
In the South Asian region, Bhutan is listed at the 18th position, Nepal in 62nd, Bangladesh in 84th, India in 143th, Pakistan in the 154th and Afghanistan in 160th place
