The International Cricket Council has informed the Sri Lanka that the elections should be held before October.
Chairman of the SLC Interim Committee Sidath Wettimuny elaborated on the issue at a press conference convened at Sri Lanka Cricket on Tuesday June 30.
A media briefing was held with the participation of the Chairman of the SLC interim committee Sidath Wettimuny, Secretary Prakash Shafter and the Chief Executive Officer Ashley de Silva.
Chairman of the SLC Interim Committee Sidath Wettimuny said that he received a letter from David Richardson, adding that they prefer an election before October.
Journalists questioned whether there is an influence from the Board of Control for Cricket in India, or BCCI is experienced when handing over rights to broadcast international matches of the Sri Lanka Cricket team.
Responding to questions raised by journalists, he said that other cricket boards cannot interfere and they are continuing negotiations.
