Former Indian President Dr. Abdul Kalam met with President Maithripala Sirisena at the president’s office on Friday morning. During the meeting, the President had informed Dr.Kalam that a national programme is afoot to free the country from the drug menace.
The former Indian president had commented on President Sirisena’s programmes in domestic food production, drug eradication and environmental conservation.
The Presidential Media Unit, releasing a statement stated that topics of bilateral importance were discussed during the meeting and that the former Indian president and the Sri Lankan President had also spoken about the cooperation of India and Sri Lanka with regard to science and technology
Dr. Abdul Kalam presented two books penned by him to President Maithripala Sirisena. President Sirisena presented the former Indian president with a souvenir.
