The prime minister had to respond to questions posed in Parliament on Thursday June 25 about the security detail and official residence for the former president.
Opposition Parliamentarian Dinesh Gunwardena clashed with the prime minister and demanded a guarantee that the former president will be given a residence to conduct his official duties.
The prime minister said that they were of the view that that the house located down Wijerama Road will be given to the former president, once the present president moves to Paget Road, adding that if there is a delay but that they can give a different house.
The premiere added that Mahinda Rajapaksa has been provided with 105 police officers and three ASPs. He went onto note that there are 14 officers from the army, a colonel who is charge of the ranks and 104 personnel from the armed forces, which includes personnel from the navy as well.
