Sri Lanka after 2015 presidential election demonstrates democracy to the world: Dutch ambassador

Ambassador of the Netherlands, Louis W.M. Piët, says the Freedom Sri Lanka received after Jan. 8 demonstrates to the world an example of democracy. Piët said that the praise of all in this regard should be bestowed upon President Maithripala Sirisena.

The outgoing Dutch Ambassador to Sri Lanka called on President Maithripala Sirisena on Tuesday, June 23, morning. According to the President’s Media Division, President Maithripala Sirisena had thanked the Netherlands for its assistance with Sri Lanka’s health sector.

Meanwhile, Norwegian Ambassador Grete Løchen, who is set to complete her tenure next month, also called on President Sirisena on June 23.

The President’s Media Division said during her visit to the North and South, she was able to witness a new awakening and freedom among the people in those areas. The Ambassador had noted that all communities in the country have placed their faith in the president.
