In the past 24 hours, four individuals have died as a result of motorcycle accidents.
The Police Media Unit said two of the individuals died after having collided with a lorry in the Morawakkanda area in Nochchiyagama. The accident occurred as a result of the motorcycle that lost control while trying to overtake the lorry. The deceased individuals were residents of Nochchiyagama.
Another motorcyclist died after crashing into a tipper while trying to overtake a bus in the Kuttigalathunkam area. The deceased is a 31-year-old resident of the Ambilipitiya area.
A female pedestrian was killed as a motorcyclist lost control and crashed into her near the Aththanagalla housing scheme in the Wathupitawala area in Nittambuwa. Police said that the deceased woman is a 73-year-old of the Ranpokunugama area.
Meanwhile, three individuals were injured in an accident between a van and three-wheeler in the Balapitiya area June 20 morning. Police said the injured are receiving treatment at the Balapitiya Hospital.
