Investigations commence into Gampaha, Ahungalla killings

Murders were reported from the areas of  Gampaha and Ahungalla  while a body of a male has been found in the Dambulla area.

An individual has been clubbed to death in Gampaha. Police said that the murder was carried out by two people who had arrived in a three-wheeler at around 8.30 on Wednesday night. The victim has been identified as a fifty-two-year-old male, a resident of Aluthgama, Gampaha.

The suspects are yet to be identified. The body of the victim is placed at the Gampaha General hospital.

Meanwhile, an individual has allegedly murdered his wife at a house in Lokawatta, Ahungalla It is learnt that a her throat had been slit with a sharp weapon. He had later handed himself over to the Bentota Police. Police said that a family dispute has led to the murder.

The victim was twenty-four-old Nimali Priyanka, a mother of one. The Bentota Police is conducting further investigations into the murder. Meanwhile, a body was found floating in the Mirisgoniya Oya in Dambulla on Thursday morning.

Police said that the body has not yet been identified. The body has been placed at the Dambulla Base Hospital following a magisterial inquest by the Dambulla magistrate.
