“The defeated group from Medamulana” is attempting to dismantle the government’s programmes, says the United National Party.

Elaborating on the statement, Minister Gayantha Karunathilaka stated that the people did not cast their mandate to hand the government to ‘the defeated group’ and that the people voted to send the previous government home and establish a new rule in the country. He went on to say that the decision will be made by the people in the upcoming general election.

Also present at the same press conference convened on Thursday, June 18, at the UNP headquarters Sirikotha, Deputy Minister Ranjan Ramanayake noted that it was said by the president himself when they met on a personal note that if Mahinda Rajapaksa was given the prime ministerial candidacy, it would cost him only a bullet to become president.
