Supreme Court Judge,  Justice Chandra Ekanayake, was sworn in as the Acting Chief Justice, before President Maithripala Sirisena on Monday, June 08.

Justice Chandra Ekanayake was appointed Acting Chief Justice, as Chief Justice K. Sri Pavan is currently overseas. Chandra Ekanayake took oaths as an Attorney-at-Law in 1974.

She has served in the judiciary since 1979, and was appointed a Supreme Court Justice in 2008.

Meanwhile, General Raheel Sharif, the visiting Pakistan Army Chief of Staff, called on President Maithripala Sirisena on Monday afternoon. The President’s Media Division said bilateral and regional security matters were discussed during the meeting held at the Presidential Secretariat.
