Indian media reports say that High Court of Karnataka has acquitted former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa Jeyaram of corruption charges.
The court’s verdict follows an appeal by Jayalalitha challenging the special court order convicting her in the disproportionate assets case.
Jayalalithaa was convicted recently for amassing wealth disproportionate to her known means of income, and was thereby forced to give up her position as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.
Indian media reports say that following the acquittal, Jayalalithaa may return to the position of Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.
