A fire that arose at a housing scheme in the town of Seheliya in Qatar has resulted in the loss of homes for 350 Sri Lankan expatriates. The homes destroyed in the blaze were reportedly housing a group of Sri Lankan migrants who were working for a cleaning company in Qatar.
The affected told News 1st that they have lost all their belongings and are deeply inconvenienced without meals and shelter facilities adding that the authorities have turned a blind eye to provide any relief.
News 1st contacted the Chairman of the Bureau of Foreign Employment Nandapala Wickremesooriya regarding this and he stated that a senior official from the Sri Lankan embassy in Qatar has been already assigned to attend the issues of the affected.
