The meeting between President Maithripala Sirisena and his predecessor Mahinda Rajapaksa which took place at the President’s Office in the parliamentary complex, has concluded successfully.
Issuing a media release earlier, the Presidential Media Unit noted that the meeting would focus on strengthening the SLFP and no discussions will take place with relation to the activities undertaken by the government.
The release also noted that President Maithripla Sirisena has rejected, what he calls, various libelous comments made by certain individuals in this regard.
The release reiterated that it was conventional for the President to engage in such discussions as the Chairman of the SLFP and that the meeting will uphold the faith of the almost 6.3 million people who voted for President Sirisena at the Elections on January 8.
