UNP, JVP and Democratic Party hold May Day rallies

The May Day rally organised by the UNP commenced on Friday under the theme Green light for labour power.

Leaders and members of the UNP and representatives of a number of trade unions marched to the May Day rally starting from Pradeepa Mawatha in Maligawatte as more joined along the way. The procession made its way to Campbell park, through Sangaraja roundabout, Maradana Junction, Borella Junction and Baseline Road.

The May Day rally then began at Campbell Grounds under the auspices of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe

The May Day rally organised by the JVP commenced from the S.D.S. Jayasinghe grounds in Dehiwala. Party members including JVP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake were present at the event.

The rally which commenced from the S.D.S. Jayasinghe grounds in Dehiwala proceeded towards BRC grounds in Havelock Town through Pamankade, Kirulapone.

Meanwhile,  the May Day rally of the Democratic Party commenced from Ward Place, Colombo 7. The procession for the rally travelled through Borella Junction, D.S. Senanayake Mawatha, Cemetery Roundabout, Elvitigala Mawatha, Narahenpita Junction and Park Road.

Thereafter, the May Day Rally of the party was held at the Shalika Grounds in Narahenpita.
